Women initiated many movements and fought hard for their rights and place in society, it would be appalling to have some of their hard work ripped away by a sickening misogynist. In modern times, women are still victims of misogyny and sexism; powerful politicians such as Donald Trump can either maintain or terminate hate towards women. If Trump becomes president, he could set precedents which can take away some of our rights as women. The very foundation of this country is founded upon our natural rights. Voting for trump is one step forward for sexists, and one giant leap backwards for humanity.
Misogyny is contempt for or prejudice against women, which by definition makes Trump a misogynist. Trump’s derogatory remarks impact the way women are viewed and treated. When a potential leader blatantly attacks women on live television, it becomes apparent that his true character is conspicuously malicious. His flippant disrespectful remarks and actions have led to an increase in violence against women committed by his supporters. Trump’s supporters wanted to repeal the 19th amendment because if only women voted, he would undoubtedly lose. The fact that he never addressed the “#repealthe19th” proves that he doesn't believe that it’s an important issue which shows his lack of care for women’s rights.
Calling women “fat pigs” and “disgusting animals” can change the way some women perceive themselves. There’s a huge impact on young girls’ self esteems since most began experiencing body image issues or lack of confidence in their looks. Having a president such as Trump will only make matters worse. We do not want our daughters and younger sisters to endure such a dilemma. There’s a campaign ad by Hillary Clinton called “Mirrors” which addresses the offensive repercussions of Trump’s animosity towards women, and its negative effects on young girls.
Although it is the twenty first century, mistreatment of women is still prevalent, and will continue to increase if women vote for Donald Trump. It is essential to understand the outcome of using your voice to support certain candidates because that becomes the fate of our country which we’ll have to endure. Trump’s foul comments toward women hinder the process of ending sexism against women, and harms the way young girls view themselves. It is crucial that women don’t maintain such misogyny by voting for Donald Trump.
I agree with Saidia Noor, http://060219968.blogspot.com , allowing Trump to become president is a giant step backwards for women’s rights. The man or woman holding the presidency should be able to set examples of equality, not examples of “locker room talk” and discrimination. And it is not just his speech against women that is throwing this country into a “hate state” since Trump started his campaign to move out all Muslim people there has been a rise in bullying in schools against children of color. Katie Lobosco reports in her CNN article: http://money.cnn.com/2016/10/25/news/trump-rhetoric-school-bullying/,
ReplyDelete“At a middle school in Tukwila, Washington, one of the most diverse schools in America, students say they've seen a different kind of bullying arise this year. A Muslim eighth-grader says other kids, including some who were her friends, have called her a terrorist. That's not something she's heard until this year. An Hispanic student who was born in the U.S. says he's been told to ‘go back to the border’ and ‘it's not right for you to be here. These are things that we hadn't been hearing before. Our population hasn't changed. So what seems to have changed, to me, is the political rhetoric,’ said Debbie Aldous, a teacher at the school. There's always been bullying, but this new tone is something teachers across the country are seeing more recently. More than two-thirds said they've seen an increase in anti-Muslim or anti-immigrant sentiment since the beginning of the presidential campaign, according to a survey conducted in March by the Southern Poverty Law Center.”
It is scary to think that one mans presences can have such an effect over a country, but it can. It is our job as citizens to ensure Trumps hate does not go further than it already has. Last time we ever saw a campaign driven by hate in this world was when Hitler ran for power in Germany, and look what it took to stop him. Let’s avoid this mess before we even step in it and keep Trump out of office, for the sake of women, minorities and children.
