“I’ve come to admire Hillary Clinton. What on earth happened?” is an article written by Danielle Allen. After reading the article I can tell that Mrs.Allen’s intended audience are people who doubt, running candidate, Hillary Clinton or believe that she is no better than Donald Trump. Allen is definitely credible. She is a “political theorist at Harvard University” and commentator on The Post. Danielle Allen begins her article by simply stating her claim or thesis. She claims that her admiration for Hillary Clinton only began about a year ago. After stating her claim Danielle begins to list her reasons and logic as to why she didn’t applaud Hillary Clinton before. Her first argument was that Hillary went against “girl code” for not keeping her maiden name. The author says she felt “betrayed”. Allen then states the second basis as to why she didn’t commend Hillary Clinton, was her unlawful role in the legislator even those she was not elected. Allen then begins to tell the readers that Clinton’s leadership, power and determination is what she actually admires.
I believe that this article was very poorly written. The evidence that Allen lists are not authentic or critical evidences. Most of her reasons for disliking Hillary were not factual they were more personal and emotional. When reading the article I could tell that the evidences listed were not well thought out. It was like listening to a fifth grader say, “I don’t like her because I don’t like her.” In conclusion the author does a poor job at listing concrete evidence. This article overall was not convincing in my opinion. One, there was not enough factual evidence to change any of my standing opinions, secondly I felt like the author still isn’t sure about how she feels. I do not believe the author believes in what she is conveying.
